After years of silence, plastics recycling seems to have aroused some interest in the major European players.
Investments have increased exponentially, with a specific focus on vertical integrations along the value chain by large raw material producers, food industry giants and retailers. These investments may also include industrial redevelopment and relocation of employees. This is the case of the joint venture set up by Unilever, a giant in the production of consumer products, and Seri Plast S.p.A., a subsidiary of the Seri Industrial Group operating in the plastics recycling sector. P2P (Packaging to Polymer), this is the name of the NewCo that will be based in the former Unilever plant in Pozzilli (IS), has signed an agreement with Unilever for the supply of 65,000 tonnes per year of recycled plastics from post-consumer packaging. The Molise site will be one of the most advanced in Italy and Europe in this innovative sector, which is fundamental for the acceleration of the Ecological Transition.
